My Newest Obsession – Tabbouleh

In my quest to look for the perfect 3:00 p.m. snack, I discovered the ultimate delicious concoction. Ok, so I didn’t so much discover it as I knew it existed, but rather, I decided to give it a chance. And boy, oh boy, am I so glad I did. Tabbouleh (or tabouli) is traditionally an Arabic dish filled with all things delicious and healthy.

So what is in this delectable dish? Let’s take a peek shall we? The most common ingredients are:

  • Bulgar
  • Tomatoes
  • Parsley
  • Mint
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Olive Oil
  • Lemon Juice
  • Salt
Of course, you will find a variety of recipes with all sorts of different ingredients. But these are the ones that will be in almost every one. All those yummy and healthy ingredients for about 20-30 calories per 2 tablespoons. Try it with some pita bread, rice crackers or blue corn chips. It is a light dish that will fill you up without giving you that “oh I had a snack and now I need a nap” feeling. Now, unfortunately, I did not attempt to make it, but that is my goal for this weekend! I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes. In the meantime, here are some awesome recipes I found in case you wanted to try it out.
