If you’re one of the 75 million people around the world who uses the MyFitnessPal app to track your food and exercise, you might be interested to find out what the experts behind the app are using all the information they collect for. Like most big businesses these days, they’re running stats and analytics in the background to spot trends and make predictions for the future. And they’ve kindly shared their findings with us.
So, what were the most popular workout trends in 2014 and what’s predicted as the hottest superfoods for 2015?
Wearing exercise tracking devices like fitbits was up 174% in 2014 compared to the year before – If you haven’t got yourself one of these, I highly recommend it! It’s a nice way to make you feel good about all the incidental exercise you do as it logs your steps, kilometres, stairs climbed and calories burned throughout the day. You can also do challenges with other fitbit users to see who can do the most steps in a day. This is a great way to motivate yourself to move around more!
And the predicted superfood that will rise in popularity in 2015? According to MyFitnessPal, it won’t be kale or quinoa but good old fashioned brussels sprouts!
